His forefathers came from the Dutch Flemish Region, today West Flanders Belgium.

Peter -Pete- for his family.
 
He arrived in Manito-IL in 1884 with his parents Leonardus and Hendrika van Pamelen (D.10.) and brother August (D.10.13.). Older brother Engelbertus had returned to Aardenburg January 1885 for his bride to be. Peter worked on the Palmer farm west of Manito-IL. His second born son Walter (2.) died infancy. Peter got his final documentation of citizenship on October 28, 1896, the year his father Leonardus died. After Louis DeSutter (I.B.1.1. on DeSutter family) returned in Manito-IL in 1908, Peter left the Palmer familyfarm with his spouse Julia and 4 children for Westport, Brown County-SD. 
Peter send a copy of the picture at the right to his brother Venantius (D.10.4.) in Holland and this copy is provided by his descent Roger van Pamelen (D.10.4.9.h.). On the picture: Peter Palmer's family.

after Petrus birth to the Townhall of IJzendijke-Holland. Those lists are per family.

1.  Charles Arthur
Charles Charles and Martha.
 
 Born in Topeka-IL, Manito area October 22,1892. Charles moved from Manito-IL to Westport, Brown
 County-SD with his parents in 1908. Married in Brown County-SD June 15, 1921 to Martha Krege,
 born in Germany-Europe on January 21,1898. Martha was a resident of Westport-SD from 1910 and
 met Charles as her neighbourr. She became a wonderful cook and her speciality was pie with butter
 and served with cream, a German recipe of her mother. They stayed and lived in Garland-SD while his
brother Henry moved to Oregon in 1922. Charles died suddenly, of a stroke, while alone in his truck on property, February 19,1944. Martha remarried June 21,1941 Paul Keen, born in Aberdeen-SD January 1,1884 and they lived for a while in Oregon.
Martha died in Columbia, Brown County-SD September 10,1992. Paul Keen died March 3,1974.
No children born.
2.  Walter
Born in Topeka-IL October 6, 1894. Died in Topeka-IL December 28,1894 at 2 m. 22 days. Burried on Quiver Presbyterian Cemetery, were he rest in peace together with his grandfather Leo Van Palmer (D.10.).
3.  Henry Bernard
Born in Topeka-IL on March 15, 1896. At the age of 12 he moved with his parents to Westport,                             Henry and Ella Henry Palmer Brown County-SD. He married in Aberdeen, Brown County-SD on May 2, 1917 to (1) Ella Fern Hewitt, born in Amherst-SD December 12, 1894. She was a daughter of John Franklin Hewitt, 1851-1932, and Edith Elizabeth Lewis, 1864-1913. Ella studied in Detroit-SD and became a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in Hecla-SD. One of her students was Gracie Palmer (D.10.6.5.).
The family moved around 1922 to Vernonia, Columbia County-Oregon and Henry got a job lined-up in a Vernonia lath plant. Later they built their own house in McNulty-OR. The family moved in 1931 to St.Helens-OR. During and after WWII Henry managed a gaspump station and a small shop in St.Helens and had a service station and tire shop at Wecoma Beach at the Oregon coast where they lived since May 1941.
He did a good business in vulcanizing, and repairing, old tires which were hard to get. Henry to his kids when they were young: "he always told us, “Don’t tell our business!”. Ella Fern died in Portland-OR on April 27, 1957. Henry married in St.Helens-OR on December 12, 1957 to (2) Opal S. Morris Smith, born in Central Lake-MI on May 22, 1901 widow of LeRoy Arthur Veazie (1887-1940) and Joseph Morris (1900-1956), died in Washington-OR August 8, 1983. Uncle Engle (D.10.1.) from Manito-IL must be one of Henry's favorite uncles, shortly before he died he whisperd his name.
Henry died of emphysema on October 29, 1973 in Portland-OR.

a.  Stanley Leroy, born in Aberdeen, Brown County-SD on April 22, 1918. Married in Portland-OR to Hazel Minnie
     Robinson
, born in Massachusetts on August 30, 1918. Hazel moved 1 year old with her parents to Windsor-Vermont
     and in 1935 to Oregon, and they made their home into a house on 11th Street, St.Helens. Hazel was a close friend of
     his sister Wilma (3.b.). In 1943 father Henry and family stayed with Stanley and Hazel in their house on Mt. Tabor.
     Stanley died in WWII at Fort William McKinley, Manila, The Philippines on February 5, 1945, leaving wife Hazel and two
     sons. Course of death: an explosion of army cookstove according to cousin John Hales. Stanley is burried at Manila
     American Cemetery and Memorial (ABMC) Manila.

     1965 in San Francisco-CA. Died in Beaverton-OR on September 2, 2004.
 
b.  Wilma Marie,born in Aberdeen, Brown County-SD on January 30, 1920. Married on August 6, 1938 to (1)
     Marvin Luther Monroe Judy, born in Marshfield-OR on June 16, 1916 died December 10, 1973 in Gig Harbor-WA.
     Wilma married (2) Archie Emanuell Kardell, born on March 12, 1914 died in Bend, Deschutes-OR on July 23, 1995.
     Spouse Archie had two children. Wilma died in Seattle-WA of a stroke January 2, 2012.

d.  Charles Henry, born in McNulty, Columbia-OR on June 18,1927. He went to High School in Washington-OR and  served in Taejon-Korea as 1st Sgt. at the radio corps headquarters, US army government unit,
 discharged October 1946 as sole surviving son. Charles married in Kelso-WA on July 2,1948 to
 Marjorie Florence Pierson, born in Portland-OR on February 11,1927. They made their home for
 one year in Woodstock-SE and from 1949 till 1981 they lived in Portland-OR, NE Buffalo St. before they
 moved to Tigard-OR. Marjorie's illness in 1993 is diagnosed as Alzheimers and is since July 1,2005
 nursed at Avemere Care Center in Newberg, Yamhill-OR. Marjorie died at Newberg December 19,2011.

Marilyn1.  Marilyn Jane,born in Portland-OR on April 15, 1949. Nickname: Dodie.
     Married in Portland-OR on December 19, 1970 to James Dale Huffman, born in Portland-OR
     on September 3, 1949. Marilyn graduate in December 1970 in Salem-OR at the BA,Willamette
     University and in August 1998 at the M.Ed. City University of Seattle-WA. She is a teacher
     at the Scappoose School District. Husband James went in May 1975 to J. D. Northwestern
     School of Law, Lewis & Clark College and a Attorney at Law in 1976. Marilyn found this site
     with Google with the search-word 'van Pamelen' which ment she found her ancestors and
     relatives in the Netherlands, and in Manito-IL. Marilyn is the owner of the Palmer-Huffman familytree on
     Ancestry, which hold already 13795 people and 1974 photo's of ancestors and descendents of the families
     van Pamelen, Palmer and Huffman. Marilyn and Jim are living in Scappoose-OR.
