Ludovicus de Zutter an US immigrant who came from the Village Aardenburg in the Flemish Region, the Southern Province of Zeeland, in the Netherlands.

SS Zeeland sailed from Antwerp to New York, arrived March 3, 1905. On this voyage Ludovicus and his brother Augustinus, his sister in law Irma Maria and niece Clara, on the way to uncle Engle and aunt Nathalia Palmer in Manito-IL.

I took the opportunity to dig up the past and ensure your children know their ancestors.
B.1.1.  Ludovicus Leopoldus and Maria Louisa de Milliano  --->
Louis for his family.
 
Louis arrived for the first time in Manito-IL April 1905. His brother Augustinus (B.1.2.), spouse Irma Maria Leers and daughter Clara Maria travelled with him but Louis was hold up in New York by immigrant officials. Aunt Nathalia wired the $10 and he arrived a week later then his brother. Both brothers found a place at Aunt Nathalia (B.5.) and Uncle Engle Bert van Palmer and worked for them to pay him back. He and August paid for the tickets for his parents and younger brother Chris (B.1.3) to come over in April 1906.
Louis returned to Holland for his bride to be in 1907, married and emigrate with his spouse Maria Louisa and her daughter Bertha (1.) in May 1908 to join his brother August who was working for Engle Van Palmer. Louis took out his naturalisation papers on August 5,1912.
In 1917 the family lived in a rented house on RR#2 in Forest City-IL and farmed 135 acres on Mr.W.L.Starrett's land (see below).
Louis got his own farm in 1921 which he owned till his death in 1955. After his death, his son Ernest (8.) took over the farm and at the present day even his grandsons Thomas (8.a.) and Gary (8.c.) are farming on the family farm at Spring Lake, Tazewell County-IL.

All children's genealogical history on their mothers side go's back to
Maria's forefather Alonso De Milliano born in Bassevelde-Belgium in
the year 1619, died on August 27,1681. Alonso was married to
Maria de Snoeck, born November 1,1629, died July 9,1674.
Farm registration
 
At the right the registration of his rented farm in 1917, Louis farmed as a tenant farmer on section 31, 135 acres, at Rural Route Manito Township. (1903) is the year Mr.Starrett came to the County. Louis purchased the farm in 1921, situated in Tazewell County near Spring Lake-IL.

1. Bertha Maria Sophia  --->
Born in Aardenburg-Holland on September 11,1905. Bertha is not blood-related, Louis de Zutter is her step-father. She came with her 'parents' to Manito-IL in May 1908 at the age of almost 3. She married in Havana-IL on October 12,1945 to Elmer Philip Scherer, born on January 1,1903 in Sand Prairie-IL, died July 8,1976, son of William Wendel Scherer and Anna Rosa Schaefer.
She worked for her Uncle Chris DeSutter (B.1.3.) in his photo studio on State St downtown Manito-IL from 1936 till 1945.
She also made her home at uncle Chris's family for many years. Early 1940 Bertha was appointed as vice-president of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Her husband Elmer was engaged in farming and was employed by the Village of Manito-IL. Elmer Scherer's brother Nelson, born February 17,1905, went to work with his brother-in-law Chris DeSutter. Together they build in August 1931 the DeSutter Grocery and Supply Store on State Street, Manito-IL. Elmer died in Manito-IL on July 9,1976.
Bertha resides on East Ave, Manito-IL, till she died on December 13,1994.
No children born.

 
2. Lena Marie
Born in Manito-IL on September 14,1908. Married on September 23,1937 to (1) George Robert Harbaugh, born October 21,1913.
Lena died in Manito-IL on July 1,1948. George married again November 1948 to Mary Williamson, born in Hopedale-IL. Divorced in 1952. George married on December 21,1952 to Pearl Reynolds from Peoria-IL, died April 11,1975. On November 6,1976 he married Wilma Green-Crafton of Pekin-IL. George died in Manito-IL on September 26,1984.

a.  Ruth Ellen,born in Manito-IL on February 28,1939. Married in Pekin-IL to Virgel Crisp in 1960.

b.  Lois Jean,born in Manito-IL on July 28,1942. Lives in Pekin-IL and worked at the Pekin Memorial Hospital.
 
c.  Robert Lesley, born in Manito-IL on June 3,1944. Married in Pekin-IL to Mildred Stansbury.
     They live at Marquette Heights-IL.

               1. Jerry Lee,born on January 24,1968.
               2. Mary Lou,born on March 30,1970.

Born in Manito-IL on October 12,1909. Died in Manito-IL on January 4,1990. Was married to ?? Schaefer, born in .... on ????.

Born in Manito-IL on December 6,1910. He married in Pekin-IL on September 22,1950 to Ruth A. Urish, born February 21,1923.
He was a lifelong farmer in Manito and Springlake areas and a member of Tazewell County Farm Bureau.
August died in Pekin Hospital-IL on December 17,1991.
  
5. Irene Arlene
Born in Manito-IL on October 13,1912. Married to Thomas -Tom- J. Schaefer, born in Manito-IL on ??. They lived in Calumet City-IL.
Irene died in Calumet-IL on August 5,1991.

Born in Manito-IL on August 13,1916. Married May 19,1954 in Peoria-IL to Jacqueline F. Gosnell, born in Peoria-IL on October 19,1934. He was a war veteran. Nelson died in Peoria-IL on August 31,1993. Jacqueline died in Peoria-IL on January 23,2000.

Ernie.
Born in Manito-IL on October 4,1920. Married in Peoria-IL on October 9,1948 to Helen A. Clark, born in Spring Valley-IL on March 4,1926 daughter of Thomas Edward Clark and Helen C. Meyer. Ernest served in Tec 5 US Army WW II. Ernie and his two sons farmed on the family farm, which farm was originaly owned by his father Louis (B.1.1.) at Spring Lake, Tazewell County-IL since 1921.
They have resided on the family farm at Spring Lake Road since his fathers death in 1955.
Ernie died in Manito-IL on December 5,1991. Helen worked as a cashier for several years, starting in 1968 for Engle Ben Palmer Grocery, Lee's Red Fox and Oney's, all in Manito, retiring in 1979. Helen died in Pekin-IL at Hallmark Nursing Home April 6,2009.

a.  Thomas E., born in Manito-IL on October 24,1949. Married on July 28,1973 to Jean A. Robinson, born in 1948.
     Thomas farmed on the family farm of his father Ernest. Jean was a secretary of the Forman School Board.

                   1.  Brenda Ellen,born in Manito-IL on September 9,1979. Married Jeff Gue of Hagerstown of MD.

b.  Deanna J.,born in Manito-IL on November 5,1951. She is a supervising secretary in the lab at the Methodist
     Medical Centre in Peoria-IL..
 
c.  Gary S., born in Manito-IL on December 11,1961. He lives at home and farms on the family farm of his father.
 
9. Louise Marie
Born in Manito-IL (Spring Lake) on August 26,1923. Married to Edward G. Wagonmaker, born in Pekin-IL in 1923.
They reside in Pekin-IL.
